Javier Via received his Telecommunication Engineer Degree and his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Cantabria, Spain in 2002 and 2007, respectively. In 2002 he joined the Department of Communications Engineering, University of Cantabria, Spain, where he is currently Associate Professor. He has spent visiting periods at the Smart Antennas Research Group of Stanford University, at the Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering (Hong Kong University of Science and Technology), and at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Dr. Vía has actively participated in several European and Spanish research projects. His current research interests include signal processing techniques for MIMO communication links, statistical signal processing, and physical layer security.
