Welcome

The Advanced Signal Processing Group (GTAS, in Spanish) is part of the Communications Engineering Department of the University of Cantabria. It is located at the E.T.S.I. Industriales y Telecomunicaciones, Avda Los Castros s/n. Santander 39005, SPAIN.

The GTAS conducts research in the development of digital signal processing algorithms for communications, as well as in machine-learning techniques, optimization, and nonlinear modeling. Currently, the research activity of the GTAS is focused on the following topics:

  • Signal processing techniques for wireless networks.
    • Advanced interference management techniques for multi-user MIMO systems (NOMA, rate-splitting, interference alignment, improper Gaussian signaling schemes, etc)
    • Detection and estimation in multi-sensor arrays.
    • Development of hardware MIMO testbeds and performance evaluation.
  • Machine-learning techniques and their applications.
    • Kernel methods, learning algorithms, and adaptive information processing systems.
    • Multivariate statistical techniques: PCA, CCA, and ICA.
    • Nonlinear modeling.

Paper accepted in IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing

The paper "Scale-invariant subspace detectors based on first and second-order statistical models" co-authored by Ignacio Santamaria, Louis Scharf, and David Ramirez has been accepted for publication in IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing.

Paper published in EURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications

The paper "Experimental evaluation of flexible duplexing in multi-tier MIMO networks" co-authored by J. Fanjul, R. Fernandez, J. Ibañez, J. A Garcia-Naya and I. Santamaria has been published in EURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications.

ADELE project

The GTAS group participates in the project ADELE ("Advances in coding and signal processing for the digital society", PID2019-104958RB-C43), funded by The Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación (Gobierno de España).

Paper accepted in IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology

The paper "Improper Gaussian Signaling for the K-user MIMO Interference Channels with Hardware Impairments" co-authored by Mohammad Soleymani, Ignacio Santamaria and Peter Schreier has been accepted for publication in IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology.

Paper accepted at EUSIPCO 2020

The paper "Rate Region of the K-user MIMO Interference Channel with Imperfect Transmitters" co-authored by M. Soleymani, I. Santamaria, B. Maham and P. Schreier will be presented at the European Signal Processing Conference to be held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 18-22 Jan, 2021.
