Welcome

The Advanced Signal Processing Group (GTAS, in Spanish) is part of the Communications Engineering Department of the University of Cantabria. It is located at the E.T.S.I. Industriales y Telecomunicaciones, Avda Los Castros s/n. Santander 39005, SPAIN.

The GTAS conducts research in the development of digital signal processing algorithms for communications, as well as in machine-learning techniques, optimization, and nonlinear modeling. Currently, the research activity of the GTAS is focused on the following topics:

  • Signal processing techniques for wireless networks.
    • Advanced interference management techniques for multi-user MIMO systems (NOMA, rate-splitting, interference alignment, improper Gaussian signaling schemes, etc)
    • Detection and estimation in multi-sensor arrays.
    • Development of hardware MIMO testbeds and performance evaluation.
  • Machine-learning techniques and their applications.
    • Kernel methods, learning algorithms, and adaptive information processing systems.
    • Multivariate statistical techniques: PCA, CCA, and ICA.
    • Nonlinear modeling.

Paper accepted in IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing

The paper "Passive Detection of Correlated Subspace Signals in Two MIMO Channels", co-authored by I. Santamaría, L. Scharf, J. Via. Y. Wang and H. Wang, has been accepted for publication in the IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing.

3 papers to be presented at EUSIPCO 2017

3 papers co-authored by GTAS members will be presented at EUSIPCO 2017, to be held in Kos Island, Greece, Aug. 28- Sept. 2, 2017.

Paper published in IEEE Transactions on Communications

The paper "Rate region boundary of the SISO Z-interference channel with improper signaling" co-authored by Christian Lameiro, Ignacio Santamaria and Peter Schreier has been accepted for publication in IEEE Transactions on Communications.

CARMEN project

The GTAS group participates in CARMEN ("Coding and Signal Processing for Emerging Wireless Communication and Sensor Networks"): a three-year (2017-2019) research project funded by The Ministerio de Economia y Competitividad (Gobierno de España).

Paper accepted in Signal Processing

The paper "Spatial interference shaping for underlay MIMO cognitive networks" co-authored by Christian Lameiro, Wolfgang Utschick and Ignacio Santamaría has been accepted for publication in Signal Processing.
